LOUPES

1) Can you put my spectacle prescription in the frames for the loupes?
Answer: Yes we can, please contact us with your prescription and we will work out a bespoke quote for you. The frames are also big enough to be adjusted in a fashion to wear your spectacles behind them during use.

2) What is your returns policy?
Answer: If they are significantly not as described or faulty on arrival. We will give an immediate replacement or a full refund. If you find the loupes purchased are too strong, need a different focal length or frame size we are happy to offer you a replacement. Provided the original is returned in as new condition. An all inclusive administration fee of £40 is chargeable which includes postage of the replacement pair to you. Please contact us to arrange a return code, gain advice and additional instructions.

3) I am having trouble deciding what focal length is best for me, how do I know which is best?
Answer: Focal Length is usually dictated by height, wearers 5ft 7’’ and below are usually best with a 330mm Focal Length/Working Distance and wearers 5ft 10’’ and above are best with 500mm Focal Length/Working Distance. There is a 420mm Focal Distance/Working Distance for wearers that need a more variable working distance where they perform a variety of procedures in different positions. This particularly applies to Field Surgeons and Veterinarians.

4) What are the similarities and differences between the Alpha and Zeta ranges?
Both the ranges have:
• Safety Frames
• Sideshields
• Safety Cord
• A Microfibre Cloth
• Anti-Reflective Lenses on the loupes
• Sprung Joints on the frames
• Fully Adjustable Frame
• Lightweight Titanium Frames as standard
• A Service Agreement Card

Alpha Range:
• 4.5’’ field of view
• Clear Lens Caps
• Classic Wooden Carry Case
• Range of Magnification start from x2.5 to x3.5 with the x2.5xx Ultralight Loupe option

Zeta Range:
• 5.0’’ enhanced field of view
• Screwdriver
• The Range of loupes start from x2.5 to x6 magnification
• Blackened Lens caps for the x4 to x6 magnifications
• Soft Padded Carry Case

5) Why is the servicing agreement so important?
Clark Optical strongly recommends all owners of our loupes get the loupes serviced once a year.

The reason for this is that it:
• Maintains the Lifetime Warranty on all working parts of the loupes
• Over time the loupes will need re-adjusting for you to make them more comfortable. Returning them for servicing is your opportunity to improve the fit of the loupes by giving us feedback.
• Replacement of silicon nose pads
• Replacement Safety Cord
• Replacement screws and repair if necessary of joints
• Straightening of frame.
• Ultrasonic Cleaning and UV sterilisation of the frames and loupes.
• Every 2 years of maintenance we automatically replace the frame for a new one.
• Discounted Anti-reflection re-coating at only £60 (Free if 3 years of approved servicing has been covered)
• Wear and Tear will be fully covered provided the user has had and paid for 3 full years of Clark Optical approved servicing

What it doesn’t cover:
• Deliberate or accidental damage
• Loss

When we supply you with your loupes we will include a servicing card (similar to a servicing book for your car). This will state when it is due for its next service, the cost and where and how to send them to us. When we send the loupes back to you, your servicing card will be stamped and comments will be made as to what changes have been done and by who in our laboratories.

6) What kind of lenses are in the loupes?
The lenses are CO 1 Precision lenses in the Alpha Range and CO 2 Precision lenses in the Zeta Range. These lenses are jointly designed by our customers needs, their feedback plus Clark Optical Scottish based laboratories experience.

7) I’m a dentist/surgeon what kind of loupes would you advise?
Answer for dentists: The Alpha Range is the mainstay for Dentists, Endodontists, Implantologists, Cosmetic Dentists and Orthodontists. The excellent visual acuity provided by the Alpha Range, durability of the frames fitted with sprung joints, Anti-reflective lenses and the 4.5’’ field of view helps you to provide a better level of care for the patient and making your job a lot easier.

Answer for Medical Surgeons and Veterinarians: The Zeta Range is strongly advised for anyone using loupes for surgical procedures. The magnification starts from x2.5 all the way to a x6 magnification. The Zeta Range has the enhanced field of view of 5’’ throughout the entire range. The lenses are Anti-reflective which is needed in a bright environment to reduce reflections. The option of a high powered magnification allows Surgeons that perform fine procedures greater choice, clarity and precision in their work.

8) Are the loupes easy to use?
Yes, very! The loupes are fully adjustable from the frame through to the inter-pupillary distance of the optical centres of the loupes. This means that you will experience increased comfort and less prismatic effect. We recommend all buyers get their optician to adjust the frame as soon as possible to achieve the maximum amount of comfort.

9) Do you supply a light that I can attach to the loupes?
No, we do not supply a light at the moment.

ULTRASONIC CLEANER

1) You sell many different kinds of Ultrasonic Cleaner. I need one that is really good for cleaning household jewellery and shaver heads. What would be best?
Answer: In our experience the Digital CD-3800 is a great unit. It has all the latest technology, digital controls which makes it easy to use and does not have the price tag of the more powerful units.

2) I am a serious metal detector enthusiast with many metal detecting finds to clean including old coins. I need an Ultrasonic Cleaner that is both powerful and durable, what do you recommend?
Answer: We recommend the CM-80 it has 130 Watts of power, a large tank and is designed for heavy duty use.

3) I am a chiropodist/podiatrist and need a unit to clean my instruments which do you recommend?
Answer: We recommend the Clark Optical UV 85 unit. This unit not only powerful but also has a built-in UV Light sterilisation system. Pre-sterilising your instruments as well as cleaning them before autoclaving. Improving hygiene in your practice and protecting the patient. No other Ultrasonic Cleaner will provide you with a better result.

4) What solution does it use?, is it just water or can I use a more powerful solvent?
Answer: Ideally you should use just water in the unit. However, for particularly dirty items you can use a little bit of washing up liquid to help loosen the dirt. You can use a more powerful solvent but this is not recommended in the instruction manuals.

5) How do Ultrasonic Cleaners work?
Answer: Items are placed in the cleaning tank submerged in water. Ultrasonic Cleaners then work by using sound to form bubbles underneath dirt that is attached and forcing it away from the item being cleaned. This is known as a ‘touchless cleaning action’.

6) Why use an Ultrasonic Cleaner?
Answer: The 'touchless cleaning action' means that you will preserve your most precious item from unnecessary wear and tear during cleaning. No longer will you take layers off your most precious items during cleaning such as in the case of silver.

7) Is it guaranteed to restore my item like new?
Answer: No. It is important to remember that Ultrasonic Cleaners are cleaners not polishers. The results are different. The Ultrasonic Cleaner is the best way to care for your items without unduly damaging them by cleaning by hand.

8) What is your returns policy?
Answer: You can return the item if it is significantly not as described or faulty on arrival. Provided the item is returned in as new condition. In such instances please contact us and we will issue you with a return code and where and how to send it to us.

9) Can I use the Ultrasonic Cleaner to clean my carburettor parts and if so which unit is best?
Answer: Yes you can. We recommend the CM-80 unit it is powerful and also has a large enough tank for the parts.
